Welcome to the website of the Society of the Knights of Anagoge.  "Anagoge" (pronounced  "ăn'ə-gō'jē" or "ann-ag-o-gee") means "spiritual exaltation; mystical interpretation of sacred works such as the Bible."   We are a nondenominational, mainstream Christian religious order that was founded in 1990 and believe in the Holy Bible and the God described therein.  We believe that God sometimes speaks to us through literary works; while we are in prayer or quiet meditation; or at any other time He chooses.  We believe that, at times, what we are experiencing is "more than the sum of its parts", i.e., there is a presence that is guiding our activities.  We believe that presence is God taking an opportunity to quietly influence our lives for the better.  Please see our "Articles of Faith" page for additional information regarding our beliefs.

We believe that "when the student is ready, the Teacher will appear" - that God is always ready to provide us guidance, but many times we are not ready to listen.

We welcome new members!  Membership is $10.00 (U.S. dollars) for two years or $20.00 for five years and is fully refundable at any time and for any reason. There is no need to join to use our website, as there are no "members only" areas on it.  Please click on the "How to Join" link above for information on how to join our organization.   All money raised, either through membership dues or by other means (garage sales, etc.) is given to other organizations that do good work and in which we have no financial or organizational ties. We sometimes also give money in small amounts to hospital patients and nursing or veteran's home residents.  All of the headquarters expenses for our organization are paid by the Board of Directors from their private funds.

When our members do charitable or spiritual work (which we hope is often!), they are forbidden to charge for their labor or time.   Please review our site and hopefully many of your questions regarding our organization will be answered.  We have ordained ministers (called "Ordained Chaplains" in our organization) who perform all of the normal religious services (preaching, weddings, funerals, Communion, etc.).  They are not allowed to charge for their services.  Our By-Laws describe how one becomes an Ordained Chaplain in our organization.

While we are not a "secret" organization (i.e., members are free to divulge their membership to whomever they please), we do not provide any information regarding our membership to either members or non-members.  The sole exception is when one of our ordained members requests that we verify his ordination status to a third party. We do periodically send e-mails to our members who have shared their email address with us.  Our membership information in maintained in a database that is not connected to either the internet or any other network.  This is done to ensure that members' privacy is maintained and to alleviate the harassment of our members by organizations that look for reasons to hate others.

Our headquarters are in the United States, and we are strong supporters of our U. S. military personnel.  If you are not also, we encourage you to find another organization to join.

We pray for the time when people can live together as brothers and sisters and where peace, good and brotherhood are universal. That time has not arrived - and we do not believe that it is God's intention to sacrifice all of His believers to the unholy.

The Bible says that "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time for war and a time for peace" (Ecclesiastes 3:1 & :8). Regrettably now is a time for war, and until the evil, unholy people of the world choose to respect human life and allow people the right to worship (or not worship) the god(s) of their choice, then holy war has to be waged.  For more information on "loving thy enemy" please see our "Quotes" page for a quote on this subject by C. S. Lewis, one of Christianity's greatest spokespersons.  He expresses our sentiments on this subject much better than we could.

We take our beliefs very seriously and strive to live our lives in ways that are pleasing to the Lord.   We hope to encourage others to do likewise.  Our members are expected to treat people with kindness and respect; to tread softly on God's earth; and to be gentle with his creatures.  We are not, however, anti-hunting, anti-fishing or anti-meat-eating.  We believe (and the Bible says) that God gave man dominion over the animals of the earth.  We believe that means to treat them as the noble beings that they are.

Our members can be (and many are) members of other churches and religious organizations.  We encourage our members to attend the church of their choice or attend a different church each Sunday.  We believe that greater insight into God's word can be obtained by hearing the many ways that God's message is practiced.  We believe that there are many ways to worship God, but only one God to worship.

We hope you enjoy our site, and that it inspires you in some small way to become a better Christian.  We make additions to the site frequently (mostly to the "Quotes" and "Links" sections), so please check back often.  If you would like to be contacted when changes are made, email us at InformationDirector@knightsofanagoge.org and we'll alert you of updates.  God's Blessings!
